Theresa Murph-Jenkins was born to the late Elnora Sugick-Murph and James “Jack” Murph on February 2nd, 1950, in Manhattan, NY. Theresa attended P.S. 156 Eugene Percy Roberts School and graduated from William Howard Taft High School. She worked for the New York City Police Department for over 25 years, and retired as a Principal Administrative Associate.
Theresa enjoyed traveling, singing, listening to many genres of music, attending theatre performances, and watching films, especially old black and white western movies. She was a devout member of Emmanuel Baptist Church (EBC) where she participated in the drama ministry and served as an usher. Throughout the years, Theresa participated in many activities with the EBC Prime Timers and the 309’ers, a social group for seniors who reside in Ryerson Towers.
On the evening of March 30th, 2026, God called his beloved daughter Theresa home. Theresa now joins her beloved parents who preceded her in death Elnora Sugick-Murph and Jack Murph, and late husband Ronald Jenkins.
Theresa leaves to celebrate her life and forever cherish her memory: her son Kamali Bryson, grandson Kyran Bryson; sisters Sharon Murph-Vincent and Marguerite Sugick-Waddell; nephew Jamil Vincent; nieces Tanesha Vincent and Imani Amoah; daughter-in-law LaTanya Gilliam-Bryson; sisters-in-law Sarah McKnight, Fredricka Jenkins-Thompson, Yvette Jenkins, Tanya Jenkins, Harriet “Patricia” Jenkins-Williams, and Jacqueline Jenkins-Doby; and brothers-in-law Dwayne Jenkins and Oliver C. Wilson. Theresa also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and relatives who will forever cherish her life.
